Becoming Aware

The more I evolve as an adult, the more I catch myself trusting in my own intuitiveness, and catching the nitty gritty details in so many situations. Since I am a spiritual creature, I do credit my personal awareness to my God, but I also think even if you are not of a particular religion, intuitiveness is something very important, and also very possible to grasp onto.  I think much of it is the state of the world in which we live, which is sad to say, but there seems to be a plethora of things that we need to exude caution against.

I suppose I could say that I’ve turned some of my fears into a new form of awareness, as a means of self-protection and the possibility of noticing something that could prevent upset to others, and nip it in the bud.

So to shorten all of that previous ramble-jamble into one sentence – Intuition can be tapped into and used to our advantage if we truly desire to understand it.

Its one of those things.. where if you have any doubt that intuition is real, then you’re already holding yourself back from getting to know it. It is amazing to me now that I have become more open to my intuition and have been allowing it to speak to me more-so than in the past, how much less anxiety I feel in certain situations.. and anxiety is something I have battled my entire life.

I’ve come across some awesome resources for those of you who feel a connection to your intuitive side, but aren’t sure how to grow with it, and trust it. I am at a point where I consider my intuition sort of like my long-lost twin, ha!

‘Light Traces’

I have found that a lot of my artistic journey involves writing and reflecting upon simple daily occurances. However.. I really don’t think that these types of entries are necessary on my professional portrait blog, so I decided to re-open my personal posts to this blog so I can continue to share experiences and interact with others who share theirs.

That has become an important part of my life in the past couple of years – discussing these things with like-minded, as well as non-like-minded individuals. A different sort of fuel that in the past I kept more private.

I will, from time to time, share my photography, daily snapshots, paintings, music.. all of the things that truly make me tick.

Looking forward to getting this back on track! I couldn’t believe it when I logged in and my last post was months ago, and I remember writing it like it was yesterday! More of a personal resolve.. I feel it necessary in my life to write everyday no matter the subject at hand.

To get started I have to mention my earlier experience when I was fixing my hair in the bathroom. SO. A spider was crawling delicately across my wall and I was immediately VERY startled because since moving in last June.. I have not seen a single insect in this place. It was instantaneous that I thought to myself ‘oh my gosh. that could have been crawling on me in my sleep!’ and then proceeded to go through various painted-mental-pictures of falling to sleep and the spider deciding to take a trip across the hills and valleys of my flesh. LOL. And I start to wonder – what do spiders ’stand for’. I mean I hadn’t been bothered by a “live-in bug” for close to a year, and then for one to suddenly startle me and get my mind wandering so quickly seemed a bit ominous.

So I peeked online to look up superstitions on spiders and this is what it said:
Seeing a spider run across a wall. Good luck, especially if he’s not headed towards your bedroom :)

Um.. YEAY. it was running toward the kitchen.. which is actually the wall perpendicular to my room, which means he was running in the EXACT opposite direction as my bedroom. So this is kinda like winning a lottery ticket in my opinion. hah!

I am not necessarily superstitious, but I do think we should open our minds to intuition, and to the possibility that sometimes things stand out at our attention perhaps as a way of making us aware of something – like shouting – “hey! pay closer attention to things.” You know how it is after you’ve seen a good scary movie.. your spirit is so aware of everything around you. Sounds, smells, even things like.. the way a room looks in a certain light can get to you after watching a great thriller.

Well in this same way.. I feel that paying attention when something stands out can open our senses up in this way if we let it. I’m not saying to let every little thing bother us to the point of being over analytical, but occasionally when something naturally jumps out at us, perhaps there is some deeper meaning we could get out of it.

Just a thought :)
